Summary of this Book...
On an entirely normal, beautiful fall day in Chester’s Mill, Maine, the town is inexplicably and suddenly sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and fall from the sky in flaming wreckage, a gardener’s hand is severed as “the dome” comes down on it, people running errands in the neighboring town are divided from their families, and cars explode on impact. No one can fathom what this barrier is, where it came from, and when—or if—it will go away.
This type of Book is good for...
This book fits into so many genres that there's nearly something for everyone to enjoy.
I especially liked...
-Although this is a work of fiction, this is the type of plot that makes you stop and wonder if it could happen someday. A nice change from the more outlandish ones I've read.
-The characters are believable. I can imagine running into these folks in everyday life.
I didn't like...
After investing so much time and emotional energy into this novel, I expected the ending to be better. Personally, I would have liked to see another chapter or two to explore it. It kind of seemed like King got tired and slapped something together. Not that this is a bad book. He's written worse. But he's also written better.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
I bought this book when it was a new release, but since I had two small kids keeping me on my toes, I just couldn't spare to the time to complete it. Every couple of years I would try again, with no success. I avoid based on book movies until I've read it first. Now that I've finally finished it, I can check out the three-season television show.
This Book made me feel...
Under the Dome kept me so immersed that I'm not even sure how I felt.
The author of this Book...
Stephen King is the author of more than fifty books, all of them worldwide bestsellers.
I recommend this Book because...
Nobody can write a "What if?" story like this man. The fine details and keen insights he crafts not only entice me to read more, but also to write more.
I don't recommend this Book because...
Warning
This book is 1074 pages long. Although well worth the time spent, some folks just aren't up to the challenge.
