This suspenseful novel is in a special category of its own. A psychologist, Dr. Anna Fox, has made her home a safe haven and will not leave it. She orders in groceries, a personal trainer, and even her psychiatrist makes house calls. I love this character with her compassionate, quirky, alcoholic prone personality. Her love of older black and white suspense movies fit right in with this story. Inserting dates and short chapters made this an easy book to read. This is an adventure into a dark forest with a road that twists and turns. It has trees with branches that reach out to confuse you just as you think you have found the answer. People you meet along the way are not who they seem to be. This is difficult for a woman who has studied the human psyche. When finished, I give this the "Alfred Hitchcock seal of approval". There is no higher praise.

Anyone who enjoys mysteries would probably enjoy this best seller.

The main character has agoraphobia and I tend to be a homebody and antisocial so I could identify with her. The way her therapist dealt with this disease was an education and I learned so much. There is nothing that you can't achieve without courage and determination.

I looked for more books by this author, always a good sign.

Each human being has the courage and compassion to deal with what we have to in life. I liked the strength I found in the main character.

If you like a good mystery and a real page turner, this is a great way to escape into your imagination. The author paints a visual picture so it is a pleasure to keep reading.
