We live much of life amid unique choices. Joy is anchored in The One beyond our life.
There are times when solitude is better than society, and silence is wiser than speech. We should be better Christians if we were more alone, waiting upon God, and gathering through meditation on His Word spiritual strength for labour in his service. We ought to muse upon the things of God, because we thus get the real nutriment out of them. . . . Why is it that some Christians, although they hear many sermons, make but slow advances in the divine life? Because they neglect their closets, and do not thoughtfully meditate on God's Word. They love the wheat, but they do not grind it; they would have the corn, but they will not go forth into the fields to gather it; the fruit hangs upon the tree, but they will not pluck it; the water flows at their feet, but they will not stoop to drink it. From such folly deliver us, O Lord. . . .
― Charles Spurgeon

Our anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strengths.
― C. H. Spurgeon

Hope itself is like a star- not to be seen in the sunshine of prosperity, and only to be discovered in the night of adversity.
― Charles Haddon Spurgeon

If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our dead bodies. And if they perish, let them perish with our arms wrapped about their knees, imploring them to stay. If Hell must be filled, let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go unwarned and unprayed for.
― Charles Spurgeon

A Bible that’s falling apart usually belongs to someone who isn’t.

Visit many good books, but live in the Bible.

When your will is God's will, you will have your will.

Time is just one mark
on Eternity's grand stage.
The Day there forever lives.
Our days here are so few.
We live to breathe and leave some hope.

Every day we do the things,
The Lord has called us to.
Each joy in life, each heartbeat sings,
each moment we go through.

Every day the words we speak
can bring hope to some hearts.
A gentle soul, demeanor meek
has wonders to impart.

Every day our task is love
for self and others, too.
Each blessing planted from Above
brings strength forever new.

Every day our talents lift
a load of much distress
by bringing Grace, this wondrous Gift
to make a burden less.

Every day we show our face
our smile can infuse light.
Each good we bring to ev'ry place
reduces some sad blight.

Every day itself's a gift
to live for God's best Plan
by helping those, who need a lift,
some needy fellow man.

Every day we may not know
the best to do or say.
By saying what we can, we grow
to live well, while it's day.

The threads are very nice.
So gentle is the price.
The scarf I'm making first
doth quench my crafting thirst.
Each new day, that I live,
I'm knitting gifts to give.

Sometimes things go awry,
that lead to one more try.
The rows, that add a stitch,
may tempt to project ditch.
I think I must forgive.
I'm knitting gifts to give.

How many are the rows
to finish things like those?
I measure scarves I've made
by those with money paid.
My gifts may me outlive.
I'm knitting gifts to give.

The skillfulness of hand
makes projects by a plan.
The peaceful moments make
a joy the times I take.
Such project hearts a-vive,
I'm knitting gifts to give.

The cave is empty from that morn,
that Jesus rose, again.
For the broken heart that feels so torn,
Salvation is the win.

The lives of humans need the Lord,
Whose life is lived for us.
The Hope we need is in His Word,
Whose pages speak His "Thus."

The filthy garments we once wore
were laid upon His back.
The cleaning effort, that He bore
was done, while we had lack.

I could not save myself at all.
I'm awful as I am.
Accept Salvation at His Call.
This is His lovely Plan.

Receive this Gift He gives to you.
Your shame is not from Him.
Each guilty heart is paid all through,
Double Jeopardy for Sin.

Believe it's done at Jesus' Hands.
All new from this first day.
His Spirit quiets all demands.
Just rest in what He says.

Though beaten, cruel, and crucified,
the Lord of Glory lives.
His body did not the cross survive,
but the tomb no excuse could give.

The cost was paid on the skullish hill,
that Friday afternoon.
"It is finished." Purpose all fulfilled,
now He is coming soon.

That Sabbath day His Body laid,
His Spirit served the Lord.
The keys of Death and Hell now paid,
held firmly by The Word.

The first weekday was the third day hence.
No devil now could touch,
no more pain could make His body wince,
His Victory so much.

He woke up by His Own Great Strength
at Sunday morning's dawn.
His friends and foes would know at length
the pain of Death was gone.

The disciples soon found an empty tomb.
The lass, "Rabboni" found.
Each man confused, a mystery loomed,
until His sweetness abounds.

They walked with Him for forty days,
until He stepped toward Home.
Their new strength came by Jesus raised.
His Spirit brought them Hope.

Now, Secret Christmas' greatest Gift,
Salvation from Above.
We serve The One, Who our hearts lift
in purity and love.

Condemned unjustly, there He stood.
The Son of God, Who came to save.
The splinters from unfinished wood
would chafe His skin to death and grave.

"It is finished," then He finally spoke,
and breathed His last to die the death.
Some villains made of Him a joke,
but no more would He take a breath.

In Sabbath rest He lay entombed.
The price was paid to vanquish Sin.
New Life would clothe Him very soon,
The Son of Man to Victory win.

From priest to priest, they made Him go,
and then to Pilate's hall.
They judged The One, Who could no sin know,
and then the crowd they'd call.

When Pilate had Him scourged and mocked
of platted thorns and robe,
their words were awful, just to shock.
"I find no fault," he probed.

Then Jesus stood before the people's rage.
Pilate said, "Behold the man!"
The Lord of Glory on the stage,
so cursed by the devil's plan.

The cries of "Crucify him!" loud,
bequeathed by insane hearts
were spoke by those so mindless, proud,
before some hope could start.

Their accusation, "Son of God"
made Pilate more afraid.
In the hall was Jesus judged, not awed,
where Pilate's words were not obeyed.

"You will not speak? I've power to free."
"You have no power at all,
except from Above it's given to thee.
The greater sin's my captor's call
."

They blackmailed Pilate, condemned the Lord.
Yet, someone, he could free.
"Release the thief, to the cross with the Word,
and Caesar, he's for me!
"

Jesus was then led away
to hang upon the tree.
The One, Who suffered for a day,
exchanged, that I'd be free.

Then Pilate had the final word
with many lofty Jews.
"The King of the Jews" was read and heard,
but they liked not paying these dues.

"Just put, 'He claimed to be the king,'
for the king, he's really not
."
"What I've written, that I now will sing,
for I've writ, and I change not
."

"1 When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Cedron, where was a garden, into the which he entered, and his disciples.

2 And Judas also, which betrayed him, knew the place: for Jesus ofttimes resorted thither with his disciples.

3 Judas then, having received a band of men and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns and torches and weapons.

4 Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye?

5 They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them.

6 As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.

7 Then asked he them again, Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth.

8 Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he: if therefore ye seek me, let these go their way:

9 That the saying might be fulfilled, which he spake, Of them which thou gavest me have I lost none.

10 Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and smote the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus.

11 Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?

12 Then the band and the captain and officers of the Jews took Jesus, and bound him,

13 And led him away to Annas first; for he was father in law to Caiaphas, which was the high priest that same year.

14 Now Caiaphas was he, which gave counsel to the Jews, that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.
"

(John 18:1-14, KJV)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When the silent days were o'er and past,
the Lord retired to pray.
He asked His Father 'bout the task,
"Be quit? Or must obey?"

Iscariot, he knew the place,
for Jesus went there oft.
A band, they followed by the leaders' grace
with torches held aloft.

But Jesus marched right up to them,
and asked, "Who are you looking for?"
"Why, Jesus of Nazareth. Yes, him."
"I'm He." They fell to the floor.

He asked, again, "Who do you want to find?"
"Just Jesus of Nazareth, of course."
"I've told you, I'm He. Now, choose to be kind.
Let these go with no recourse.
"

The saying said, He truly spoke,
"I have not lost a one."
Then Simon Peter's sword awoke
but missed the servant's head.
The ear of Malchus is not a joke.
He wanted him full dead.

Now, Jesus told Pete, "Put it up.
I have to drink it full.
The Father's given me this cup.
His Glory, it must rule.
"

The captain and his men then took
the Lord and bound Him tight.
They let then Annas have a look,
but Caiaphas had the right.

What he then said was fully wise,
but he might not fully know,
"One man should die. We'll hear His cries
for the people. It was so.
"

They took Him, uncharged, innocent,
that we might not be lost,
but when they beat Him, clothing rent,
'twas then we'd know the cost.

This night we wait to see the Face
for their verdict, yet unknown.
The Man of Sorrows gave us Grace.
He's the "corn of wheat," now sown.

"1 And when they came nigh to Jerusalem, unto Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount of Olives, he sendeth forth two of his disciples,

2 And saith unto them, Go your way into the village over against you: and as soon as ye be entered into it, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose him, and bring him.

3 And if any man say unto you, Why do ye this? say ye that the Lord hath need of him; and straightway he will send him hither.

4 And they went their way, and found the colt tied by the door without in a place where two ways met; and they loose him.

5 And certain of them that stood there said unto them, What do ye, loosing the colt?

6 And they said unto them even as Jesus had commanded: and they let them go.

7 And they brought the colt to Jesus, and cast their garments on him; and he sat upon him.

8 And many spread their garments in the way: and others cut down branches off the trees, and strawed them in the way.

9 And they that went before, and they that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna; Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord:

10 Blessed be the kingdom of our father David, that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest.

11 And Jesus entered into Jerusalem, and into the temple: and when he had looked round about upon all things, and now the eventide was come, he went out unto Bethany with the twelve.
"

(Mark 11:1-11, KJV)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And when He neared the town and mount,
He sent the two to find
the colt was tied by His account,
they loosed the ropes, that bind.

"Why do ye loose the colt?" they asked,
the owners of the same.
"The Lord hath bid of us this task,"
and they left without blame.

They brought the colt to Jesus, then
they laid upon its back
their garments, where He'd sit, begin
parading down the track.

Some other garments strowed they there,
and palm fronds on the road.
They praised Him, walking everywhere,
"Hosanna!" as they strode.

"Blessed is The One, Who comes
to honor The Lord's Own Name.
Blessed is the Kingdom's sum,
of David, quite the same.

"Hosanna in the highest Heaven."
All Glory be to God.
And Jesus came to bind up leaven,
to win The Lord's applause.

He walked the temple, looked around,
and with the evening come,
He went to Bethany's blest ground
with His disciples from.

He entered well of pomp and laud,
but as the week progressed,
He was to them much less than God,
and one quite dark, distressed.

The joyful crowd and cheering throng
became an angry mob.
Now, "Crucify Him!" as their song,
they put on the cross their God.

The goodness of the glad, "He comes!"
became "Away with Him!"
But when we see those days and sums
He arose to live, again.
