I am thankful for every day
savoring Mother Nature's buffet:
a walk in meadow where daisies grow
and chat with talkative crow,
no matter whether sky be blue or gray.

When my imagination starts to play
and chase the melancholy away,
then I pray to God and let Him know
I am thankful.

So many ways to convey
the vast emotional array:
a warm smile to go with "Hello!"
a friendly hug will make my heart glow--
so many reasons I can say
I am thankful.

Spit shine
those boots,
getting ready for Veteran's Day parade
with all its pomp and circumstance:
left right,
left right,
down Main.

Band plays
"Anchors Aweigh"
to stir patriotic spirit in crowd
and honor vets' dedication and courage
in Vietnam,
in Afghanistan,
in Iraq.

We thank
them for
the sacrifices they make for us:
their time, their energy, their fate.
People cheer,
flags wave,
children salute.
