You are what you write. Illusion and Reality...I reside in between. Where are you?
UNDERSTAND THAT REDIRECTING CIVILIZATION is a major undertaking. You can write volumes about it and who will listen? But the energy that goes for that purpose cannot be withdrawn. You know that.

Blog City image small THE BEST LIES

Prompt: Lies, everyone tells them some people are better liars than others... or are they?

An institutionalized lie is highly resistant to truth.

Think about it. --- We have lived (or died) with lies about Cancer, AIDS, 9/11, Elections, the Civil War, the First World War, the Second World War, the Afghan War, the Iraq War, the Syria Civil War, and on and on...

The untruths are repeated, reinforced, enhanced and whispered, announced, broadcast so many millions of times by the governments, rulers, politicians and institutions that steer and order the history writers, the Media, the script writers, the paid experts---that the truths are buried and distorted forever.

However, now in 2017 we see and hear a resounding clash between:
TRUTH and LIES leaving everyone confused and full of anxiety. Some of the best lies have a dark side that take a very bright light to expose. And would folks recognize the truth if they weren't blinded by the darkness or the illumination?

Where's the damn switch? I'd like to see the BEST TRUTH!

Peace and love...>>>iggy

Blog City image small JOHNNY IN TOO DEEP

Johnny Depp, the brilliant actor, has what is being called "A crumbling career." Last December, before the May 2017 release of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Forbes named Depp the most overpaid actor for a second straight year as films such as Alice Through the Looking Glass and Mortdecai did not fare well.

Now I think, sometimes Mr. Depp chooses films to do that are perhaps creative or artistic, but not big box-office draws like the Pirates films. He could get personal satisfaction from helping create the projects. However, he has been knocked off the Forbes highest paid actors list for the first time in years amid financial woes. Ordinarily Depp appears in the top five of that list.

His business managers describe him as being guilty of 'lavish spending habits.' To adjust, Johnny has been selling a collection of condos in Los Angeles that he owns - last week finalising the sale of the fourth of the five luxury apartments.

None of this diminishes Johnny Depp's talent, so I guess he needs to stop playing and get back to doing more wonderful films.

Success ain't what it's cracked up to be...
(After your third million, what to do?)

Blog City image small BEAUTY?

Prompt: "Unique and different is the new generation of beautiful-You don't have to be like everybody else. In fact, I don't think you should." Taylor Swift How do you feel about this quote?

That's an unanswerable question. It's part of human genetics, our DNA. Seeking a mate is instinctive and drives that recognition on a very primary level.

Beyond that the the industry of mass media shapes and steers the desires and behavior of almost everyone toward a profit-driven theme.

I particuarly note all the female newscasters (opinion speakers) on Fox News. They all are a television makeup artist's dream---the eyes, the eyelashes, the cheekbones, the skin tones so finely shaded. Artificial? Yes! Does that Beauty belong on a news program. Their confidence says they think so, Are you distracted by this?

There is the world of celebrity fashion and makeup. That would be where you'd find Taylor Swift and all the other thousnds of actors, singers and entertainers whose images flash across our screens everyday. Enormous amounts of money and investment go into producing those images. They don't really look like that. The makeup 'face' is carefully reproduced daily to maintain the image.

I know because I worked as a makeup artist in Hollywood and faced some of those folks at 4:00AM when they arrived for makeup and wardrobe. They mostly were just plain, ordinary folks arriving for work, needing more sleep and struggling to learn scripts or lyrics. Of course they had to close their eyes while we did our magic. And then the look at a mirror to reassure that the image looked just like yesterday. Believe me, some were very particular. The same went for the hairdressers.

I did lots of men's makeup---talk about subtle. It had to look natural and not like makeup. Then there is men's hair. Many are balding or receeding. Hair pieces and wigs were a hidden secret that had to be maintained. And required constant attention during shooting. Plus the hairpieces required maintaining because they're very expensive.

So---what you see is seldom real beauty. There are some humans, both women and men who are breathtakeingly beautiful with no help. Your jaw drops and you can't take your eyes off them. Isn't it amazing that we see that without anyone telling us.

It's in your DNA....enjoy... ...iggy *Boat*

Blog City image small “Every lie holds one great truth?”

Prompt: “Every lie holds one great truth?”
What do you think that truth may be?

How do you know it's a lie if you do not know the truth?

The truth of a lie is that it is a deception.

The truth of a lie is that it is a protection of your crime.

The truth of a lie is that it is a denial of your love.

The truth of a lie is that you are denied knowing

Lies can be very dark and black.

Lies are often sweet and pretty.

We live in a world of lies,
Everyday,
In what we see,
From what we hear,
The only escape is to know the truth!

Do you know? >>>iggy

Blog City image small Eclipse of a lifetime

Awe inspiring. I just saw the total eclipse on television from Casper, Wyoming, my home town. It looked perfect. Then they switched to some kind of filter to show the expanding edge on one side after it had made a complete black circle.

The thing about all this is how did the moon get to be the exact size and exactly the correct distance that its bulk would block out the sun, not bigger or smaller. The science that says it was all created accidently and evolved---leaves some unanswered questions. Will we ever know the answers?

Something to remember. >>iggy

Wow! This blog has been inactive for a whole year. Time roars by whether you're having fun or not.
I have been deeply involved with finishing my third novel, Knights of Sparrow. It is now in the final preparation for ePub at Lulu.com. Self-Publishing is not easy, but it's affordable.

Now my group at WYRM is getting ready for the GAUNTLET an underground, independently run writing competition. We welcome professional writers, published authors, undiscovered talent & anyone with a love for speculative fiction.
Why do we do what we do? Well, we guess it’s because there’s nothing like running a Gauntlet. Come be a part of a movement! Because it really is being a part of something. It’s fun, it’s fearless, and it’s cool. Because it’s better than sitting at home and watching The Voice.

** Image ID #1289006 Unavailable **

This will be my third year to be a judge for the competition. I'm hoping to see a lot of new writers sweating their way through the diabolical challenges.

Our Gauntlet works in four rounds of action, and is a mixture of critique and fiction-writing to challenge our esteemed Gauntleteers. The rounds are all different, and designed to bring out your best–your best review, your best short story, or something you didn’t see coming.

I'll be back more often writing about the struggles of creating a novel.

My best to everyone!

I'm sorry, blogs are lost in moving to take care of friend's house after her husband died suddenly. New responsibilities and needy, big dogs keep me running until things settle down. My reviewers at WYRM are hitting the last 1/3 of my novel. Life is complicated, but fun. Soon...

The care of human life and happiness,
and not their destruction, is the first and only legitimate object of good government.
Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826) Third president of the United States.

Blog City image small Prompt: Be yourself. Everyone else is spoken for. What is your take on this?

I think this was one of the sharp comments by Oscar Wilde. You can’t copy another person, no matter how much you admire them, you are not a clone. Plus the idea that other people are presenting a mask of themselves to the world, and the real person is hidden. You might only be trying to cover your true self with a mask of a mask---so give it up, be yourself! *Delight*

I say that, but I know and understand that for some it is impossible in our cultures that teach hate and suspicion, enforced with threats or violence. Our world needs a serious attitude adjustment. *Worry*

If you are not aware, Google: “THE UNITIED STATES OF AMERICA, INC.” and see what information is right out there in plain sight. *Shock* And I had two semesters at university of American History classes, which never said a word about this huge mess.

How can we be ourselves when we don’t know who we are?

Blog City image small Prompt: What do you think is the difference between a short-short story and a prose poem?
This question is because some people are mixing up the two.

I think this would be called a prose poem...

There is a right and there is a wrong,
And there is a different way of doing almost everything.
Escape it not. Be wary of trying not.
Be scheme yourself into a new vale of intent…
Words come in exquisite waterfalls of unstoppable cadences,
Pushing everything out of its way, your way, our way.

Not since the evolution of new words, new language, does the preparation of poetry have any lasting effect. It’s an outlandish scheme, but one that has color, striking images and little emotional zingers…if you let it flow without impedance. Understand?…then do it!

I think this is a short-short story...

Snapshot: Billy-Bob Baggins
Convoluted, centrist, and overwhelmingly accommodating, the big man called Baggins stood resolutely in the path of the oncoming vehicles. His wife, children, friends and neighbors stood a few steps behind him in the dew-wet grass. All eyes were focused on Billy-Bob to see if he would truly stand firm against the onrushing tide of public outrage that threatened to engulf them all.

The story is a captured moment told with naration or dialogue.

The difference is the use of language and structure. And it’s not a hard rule, it’s very grey and fluid.
Just write it!

Peace and Love...>>>iggy

Blog City image small My question to you when it comes to character development how well do you know your character? What works best for you creating this epic person? Do you feel having an outline spoils that relationship? Can your character create the plot for you? Steel believes the character writes the story if you've created a strong character, what do you think?

For me, there is no single source for characters. Most of my stories initially come from dreams---quite vivid and quite clear who they are and what they are like. Sometimes I know a backstory, other times I have to create the justification for their existence. A few have appeared with automatic writing, but only as a brief snapshot. The dreams are always more complete.

And yes, once the story is started, and I know the character, they control a lot of what happens in the story. The structure of the story is an outline, especially if it must happen within a set timeline. However many times it is a total informational diagram of a place, or story moment, or a nation-kingdom, or everything within a characters place in time. From the study of that, I find the possibilities, possible timelines, etc. Especially large, epic-like stories there is too much to remember all the time. Note: I learned this method at a writer’s workshop. He did it on a wagonwheel. I tend to expand beyond that. Ha! *Ha*

There have been times when I cast a horoscope of a character, which determines their qualities. Other times I’ve tried tarot cards; and you must follow the reading. That makes interesting plot lines.
A few times I’ve used a living person I have known, fictionalized of course.

This entire idea of creating characters is wonderful, and god like. Writing is exciting if you can translate your vision to the readers.

Peace and Love...>>> iggy
