O'siyo Oginalii Tsilugi - Hello friends - Welcome - to My first blog. A place to share.
Dream Catcher
Dream Catchers

An ancient Chippewa tradition
The dream net has been made
For many generations
Where spirit dreams have played.

Hung above the cradle board,
Or in the lodge up high,
The dream net catches bad dreams,
While the good dreams slip on by.

Bad dreams become entangled
Among the sinew thread.
Good dreams slip through the center hole,
While you dream upon your bed.

This is an ancient legend,
Since dreams will never cease,
Hang this dream net above your bed,
Dream on, an be at peace.

The prompt for today:

When was the last time you shed tears of joy?

My Most Tender Moment - In Life

Like many of you, I have cried from happiness on numerous occasions. I would like to talk about is, what I feel to be the most tender moment of my life.

Most of us know what it feels like to be on the pushing end of delivery and the joy that comes when it is over and you are holding that precious little person in your arms.

This is going back a few years; I was fresh out nursing school and had gotten my very first job at Memorial Hospital. I was so happy, I was hired for the OB/GYN department. (My dream job*Smile* )

I had a mommy in labor, she was my patient, and I cared for her through the night. Finally the time came and I called the MD an told him, I needed him now! My head Nurse (and my mentor) and I, took my patient to the delivery room and prepared her. Suddenly things progressed! I looked at Sue Trimble(my head nurse) and you know what she said to me?

Kris, you are a nurse, trained, and the MD is on his way but he is not going to make it. You are on your own horse and I am right here.

I was so scared- Mommy screamed - it's coming!

Suddenly the fear left ( or I just couldn't feel it anymore) an it honestly felt like something overcame me and it wasn't my hands I was feeling.

I delivered a little, healthy baby girl - who is now probably in her 30's somewhere - all by myself.

The feelings were phenomenal - As it turned out, she was my first but not my last.

I cried many tears of JOY

Oh my gosh! Funny to given that prompt for today!

What expert do you wish could come and teach you what they know

I blogged briefly on this yesterday; to put it in a nutshell, I wish I had an expert on writing.
I have been working my tail end off on my novel, "The 6th Commandment", and my granddaughter came to me yesterday and wanted me to teach her to write a story.

I told her first we have to have a story idea, she replied that she did. I gave her first assignment of brainstorming - you should have seen what she wrote- I couldn't believe it- I came up with three different scenarios from her feelings about horses.

So tonight, I gave her those three scenarios and assignment #2 developing her storyline. Well she took those that I gave her and walked out the door with a fourth scenario, of her own.

I have helped her sign up here, at WDC- great place!

I just need to guide her and I could sure use the help myself *Smile*

Free Blogging Day *Smile*

Hello everyone, I just have to share a very special day in my life. Today (as we all know) is Easter and we had a family get together at my mother-in-law's house. Very nice, and dinner was great!

My granddaughter came up to me, (she has heard me talk with my daughter about writing, my novel, and WDC) and wanted me to teach her how to write a story. I sat down with her and we talked at great length. (She is 13) She decided she wanted to sign up with WDC. Together we got her going.

Then she wanted me to show her where she could start writing words. "Whoa," I said, "first we a story idea." "I got one," she replied. OK that was great, so I gave her 1st assignment, Brainstorming! I told her to write everything, whether it made sense or not, whether or not it was in order. Then we would go from there. She went right to work; taking over her mom's computer. Tomorrow I will help her more - I think it is going to involve a horse. *Smile*

I think I have a budding writer*Delight*

P.S. My daughter is thinking about signing up also, she is interested in writing music - can we help her here? I would like too.

Today's Prompt 3/30/13

*Sick*SPRING CLEANING - UGH!*Sick*

Rather in general, housework - sucks! But you gotta do it. See... I'm a typical S.H.E., AKA - Sidetracked Home Executive. I'll do anything to get of it if I can- but the day creeps up that I can't.
So now I can stat my new year's resolution - hee hee- Keep a cleaner house to allow myself more time to write- see.... there is always a method to my madness *Laugh* - anyway to try and better myself and get better organized, I am in the process of putting together a card system listing, daily, weekly and monthly activities. I figure 2 to 4 hrs daily making myself do what I don't want to do will leave me a good 10 to 12 hrs to what I want to --sly - me *Smile* I just found out (I timed me) it only took me 3 min to unload the dishwasher and 7 min to rinse the dishes and reload - that's only 10 min and I have a max of 3 hrs and 50 min to dash about the house.

Just thinking about it makes me dizzy *Laugh*

Today's prompt:

{center:}If you could be any fictional character in the world: who would it be and why?

I have to say, the first image that came to mind when I read the prompt was the Little Fairy Godmother in Cinderella. I always thought she was cute and besides that she was magical. How neat would that be!

I could help solve others problems, at least give the means to solve their own. Boy could I have fun with the world*BigSmile* For myself? well, *Blush* I would never, ever, ever have to do housework again*Smile*

Hello everybody*RainbowL* *Trees* *RainbowR*

What is it that motivates you?{/b}

At the risk of sounding pompous, I have to say that what motivates me is me; my inner drive.
I believe, that is if something is worth caring about; you fight to protect it. If a job is worth starting, then you do it right; learn all you can and finish it. But most of all you have to care and please yourself first. Then and only then, it becomes easy to make others happy.

I went tough a period in my life; I needed everyone to like me. I did everything I could to please everyone - except myself. I was unhappy, lonely and had no friends, because I made myself a grumpy person.

One day, I can't say, it was all of a sudden, because it wasn't. I started to do something that made me happy - and I was. I began to notice a change within myself, and others did too.

So, I feel, that true everlasting motivation come from deep within yourself. Tapping that corner of your soul - carries you through anything that comes your way.

I want to extend my warmest thanks to Kasia. She sent me an awesome banner for my book and helped me make my site for my book fantastic.

Oh yea, I should get the prompt- but you got to remember, from my past blogs, I'm not quite traditional*Laugh*

Hello everyone, *CakeP*
Prompt for March 23, 2013

Write about the funniest thing that has ever happened to you

Road Kill{/center

A while back, we won't talk about time here, I was going to make BIG bucks and start my own business, and I mean mega bucks! I could just see it and had it all planned out.

I was start Kristina's Bakery

I wanted to learn how to make all the fancy cakes and such , just like the bakery. I even had visions of my self doing wedding cakes *Smile* I found a class that taught this - in FOUR weeks. Yippee, I was on my way!

First I gotta tell you, the idea in this class was to start small and work up--OK fine by me! Well...
we wont talk about lesson #1 the sugar cookies that even the dogs wouldn't eat or lesson #2 the cake that was suppose to be 8 inches by 3 inches and looked more like a scalped midget or lesson #4 the perfect cake - that didn't happen! Instead... we'll talk about lesson #3 the cupcakes - AKA "Road Kill"

Now it doesn't take a rocket scientist to throw together a cake mix, put cupcake liners in the cupcake pan, and fill them. Well... that depends if you inherited the baking gene or not. I did it the first time and it looked like a oblong cake with little feet.

Repeating the steps, I managed to get PERFECT cupcakes - Oh happy day -
I made my frosting and off, across town, I went to my class. The parking lot was full of people and I mean full! I got my decorating kit and my brand new cake carrier, full of my 6 cup cakes out of the car. BOOM! the cake carrier fell apart and my PERFECT cupcakes went flying on the ground and under my car.

Now if you want to experience what it feels like for the world to stand still - stand in a busy parking lot, watching your cupcakes roll everywhere while you're yelling expletives- and meaning them too.
My options go home for 6 more - no 2. go home and stay home - no 3. pick em up, scrape them off and learn how to do my flowers anyway -YES - so I did and they came out just perfect - I did have the class' attention though as I was scraping them clean.

I got them home and wanted to show my hubby my cupcakes *Smile* I grabbed the cake carrier, BOOM! ...................................................................The dogs loved them*Laugh*

Stepping Up}

When I was going to college, preparing for my nursing career, one of my prerequisites was Public Speaking. UGH! What the hell did I need that for? I certainly wasn't going to get up and give a speech in front of a bunch of sick patients as I gave them their meds and other care. that class I'll never use - so I thought.

I was never so scared in all my life. Not only did we have free reign of topics, and have to give our speech in front of the class, but, it was video taped as well. I hated it, though I did quite well in the class.

The first time, for me, I was scared spitless, My topic - Child Molestation - I hung on to myself about as tight I could, my knees were shaking so bad I could feel my pants hitting against my legs.
I thought this was the stupidest idea for a prereq. I lived.

Well, I was right in the respect of giving speeches in front of patients, however, the day came when I did need the experience that I had gained. I have blogged on this before so I will keep it short - Back in the 70's, Proposition 13 came up. The state wanted to cut school buses. We lived in a mobile home park on Hwy 101 (very dangerous for kids) frequented multiple times a day by produce trucks. There was no crossing guard or walk and the school was a mile away.

I was carrying 12 units at night and had 4 kids at home. Being the fighter that I let surface now and again, I decided this was unacceptable and organized a subtle protest.

I formed a carpool- so that not kid walked to school, organized a petition and collected signatures, did my homework to the number of kids in the park and to which school they attended (elementary, Jr. High, High) and enlisted the help of my public speaking teacher.

I wrote my speech, he critiqued it. I made a copy for each school board member and went up in front of the school board and presented it. My speech made the papers and I got the buses.

I think the school was glad and celebrated when we eventually came back to Bakersfield.

March 20, 2013 - Todays Prompt -

What do colored eggs make you think of:

The hen house had been very busy that week, preparing for the upcoming day of Easter. Henrietta, the head hen, made sure all the nests were in proper order. The Master would be in anytime to deliver his usual encouragement.
Suddenly, Henrietta jerked her head up and gave out a loud cackle, "Places everyone quick, here he comes!" Scurrying to their nests, silence quickly fell over the hen house as the heavy footsteps stopped inside the door.
"OK, you gals, it's that time of the year, either you produce or you'll find yourself in the pot!"

For a week these little hens worked very hard and by the eve of Easter had reached their quota. The Master returned and found them hanging over their piles of eggs; each measuring three feet high. Exhausted, they laid there with their wings drooping to their sides and their little red tongues extending out of the corners of their beaks.
Taking out his cell phone, he called Peter.

OK PETER TAKE IT AWAY

Here comes Peter Cottontail
Hoppin' down the bunny trail
Hippity hoppin', Easter's on its way

Bringing every girl and boy
Baskets full of Easter joy
Things to make your Easter bright and gay

He's got jelly beans for Tommy
colored eggs for sister Sue
There's an orchid for your mommy
And an Easter bonnet too

Here comes Peter Cottontail
Hoppin' down the bunny trail
Hippity Hoppin', HAPPY EASTER DAY

This going to an interesting prompt to write on - I made myself grow up to fast and there have been many times that I wish I didn't. But in those days, times were moving and changing fast and there was a horrible war going on that influenced a lot of decisions made by society.

When was the first time you really felt like a grown-up? (if ever)

I was a 17 year old snot nose kid and my husband was an even bigger snot nose kid by 2 years when we got married on December 30, 1967. He was in the navy and was due to be shipped out the middle of January.
Well, I thought I was pretty grown up - hey I was now a married woman!*Laugh* But I really felt grown up when The Postman Brought Me A Letter (for those of you who remember that 60's song) telling me to make arrangements and join him on the tropical island of Guam. I did!

I took the bus from Barstow, CA to Sacramento, CA. There I caught the train and traveled to Salt Lake City, Utah, (my folks were vacationing there for the summer) from there I flew back to San Francisco. From there I flew to Hawaii, then to Wake and finally landed on Guam. Hey pretty grown up huh?

Well now, I have to put all the trouble I got into while I was there into a nutshell other wise I'll be keeping you here all night. Let's see: Spreading Limburger cheese on the Lt. JG car engine, cause we didn't like him, go motor cycling all over the island at night (what's wrong with that you ask?) We had a 10pm curfew by the navy and we broke it every night. No prob. getting into the public bars, getting drunk and our group getting thrown out- at that time if you could put your money on the counter and order - you were old enough. I got into several fist fights protesting the war, and in the end? Yep you guessed it - 1 yr. 6mo later the Captain called my husband in and suggested that it was time for me to return stateside. Well, since I couldn't protest that--I had to go.

When I got home, I had to grow up. I got a job and several months later when hubby got home - our family was started.

I still have moments, throw a tantrum now and again - and for goodness sake, don't EVER TELL me I can't do something cause I'll show you just how fast I can. But that is just me and one of my little quirks *Smile*
Grown up? Hmmmmmmmmm!

In honor of St. Patrick's Day, blog about anything that has to do with the color green

When I think the luscious color green, I think white. I think of the brown, baron mountains surrounding the valley, shedding their white blankets, only to replace it with a thick layer of green, lush grass. Lasting temporarily as it gives away to splashes of purple, red, violet, gold, orange, yellow, and white. The wild flowers only signify the beginning. The renewal, the promise. Following the birth of the mountains, comes the birth of life: that which continues mankind and that supports the existence of mankind. Animals give forth their young and the fields give forth its' fruit. What does all this have to do with the color white?

White is the color of the moon, overlooking and guarding the mother earth. The Flower moon, (Ka-wo-ni)
is special. It is the April moon that showers the earth as it renews itself; when the plants come to life and bloom again, and life renews itself.

Good morning everybody, and Happy St. Patty's Day *Shamrock*,

I just thought I'd take this opportunity to ramble for a few. I am so excited *Smile* - Yesterday I bought myself, what I am calling "my thought keeper, an Olympus Note Corder. It seems that every time I am away from my computer, thoughts hit me and by the time I get back, poof - they're gone. So now that is in the past! This little gadget is as big as my cell and fits into its' case and I can attach to my pants --never without and no excuses- it is now in use. So I can on my merry way with housework, errands, and such - and never miss a thing. *Smile*

Then I was working on my novel at hand this morning; needed to do some research: found the basis of another good story- it is based on a true story that happened right here where I live, dated in the 1800's, involving a feud between two families. Next week I am going to treat myself *Smile*; Instead of taking the car, I am going to take my handy dandy note corder, catch the bus (be on the look out characters), and go the law library and look up the case. Should be an eventful and great day.

Well, that is my ramblings for right now.

HAVE A GREAT DAY! *Sun*

NAH! Just because I sat up till 2:30 AM with toothpicks holding my eyes open, refreshing my page, over and over, and manually checking my email for fear I missed it......I wouldn't say that *Laugh* To get to todays prompt:
Write about what you think about that moment before you go to sleep

Well, first I got to get to bed BEFORE I can let my mind start its' thing going. What I mean is that, it is quite an ordeal for me to get there. Hubby goes to bed before I do and 3 of our small little doggies go with him and the other 3 wait for me. One of them, of course, is my little PJ. During the day all is well with him. At Night- oh dear. When I go to bed he decides that no one and I mean no one gets next to me; including hubby. It takes about an hour to settle this little guy down and get him to accept the fact everyone gets a spot, and he gets under my arm. NOW I'm ready for my last thoughts. They are of course, just as active. First, what do I have to do the following day; what can I leave undone and get away with; what am I going to fix for dinner to keep hubby from raiding my frig. and crying for dinner at 2:30 in the afternoon.(not long after lunch); any errands and writing. My mind is mostly taken up with my characters and scenes. Setting the next scene up and how am I going to transition into it smoothly. Then, of course, checking my watch- waiting for 8pm (my time) and making a mad dash for the prompt -OOPS did I admit that?*Blush*
OK you caught me*Smile*

I view each day as a journey. A trip to the grocery store, across town, to visit a friend, or a long anticipated trip. It is the journey that makes the destination worthwhile. To see and take in all that is happening around you is a learning experience; an opportunity to grow and tap into one's creativity. I came across a poem that I feel, sums up my feelings well - written by Mark R. Slaughter.

The Journey without shortcuts

The journey traveled without shortcuts,
is a journey worth taking.
For there are no shortcuts,
to any place worth going.

The destination does not matter,
but the journey to it does.
For at the destination,
you will not learn anything.

You will not accomplish much either.
On the journey to it, however,
you will learn many things,
and accomplish much.

On the Journey,
you will learn. You learn that,
"We are not human beings on a spiritual journey,
but spiritual beings on a human journey." (my good friend Joe)

So travel hard,
and travel well.
Choose your companions wisely,
and leave everything behind.

Never look back,
always move forward.
For "Yesterday is history,
and history is miles away." (Mathew West)

But never forget anything either,
learn all that you can,
and treasure the good times.
Then this Journey will be like no other.

This is the Journey

Good morning*StarStruck* just by the mere thought of today's prompt *Smile*

If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would you go and why

Well, let me dig deep, I'm sure it is in here somewhere. AH, yes, here it is: Well, I seem to have two places listed: 1. I would love to go Africa and go on a real African Safari. I would love to see the elephants, tigers, lions, and all the wild life up close, in their natural habitat, not cooped up in cages. The country, culture and people fascinate me. Then a would-be have to go:, would be Australia.*Smile* Ever since I read the Thornbirds I have been in love with that country and would give my eye teeth to see what the outback (not the local restaurant) is really like. Well...I guess that takes care of my wish list - BUT WAIT! I just came up with something else to add to my Bucket List*BigSmile*----I want to rob a bank - just for the thrill of it, THEN I can go on my Safari and visit the Outback*Laugh* Problem solved!

Death Penalty: For or Against & why?

Murder as defined by the Webster's New World Dictionary: is to kill (a person) unlawfully and with malice. I would like to add my own feeling to that definition and that is to willfully deny another of his/her God given right, the right to life. Not only is the victim denied this right, but family, friends, and any future family of that victim is denied the right to interact and be part of the victim's life. There is not one human being alive that has the right to decide to take another's life regardless of rage, jealousy, or just plain meanness. The Bible teaches "an eye for an eye," but people cannot use that as an excuse to take matters into their own hands. I hate to place a degree on the subject but I think the most horrendous act of murder is that involving a defenseless child. It is all atrocious, but that is the worst. Yes, I support in the death penalty and taking it a step further, they should not be allowed to live for years on death row. If I could choose who to start with, I'd start with Scott Peterson.

Tonight's prompt triggered a memory that I have been trying to bury for the last 15 years and have never spoken of since it happened. Perhaps it is time I did.

First, in my own personal life, I made my choices and I dearly benefited from those choices. I'm not rich, but I am definitely not poor. I have what money can not buy. I have 4 wonderful children and 7 beautiful grandchildren. I am surrounded with love. I have a roof over my head and food on my table. I can wake up each morning, breathing and able to smile. Oh sure, I have had my trials through out my life- but isn't that what life is? Sometimes we do things that are stupid but that is being human.

What I wanted to talk about was something I said to a patient, that if I could rewind the whole night for everyone involved - I would.

I worked as a RN in the operating room. I was on call that night and was called in at 2am for a gunshot wound. I received a 14 year old gang member kid who had been shot in the back. (I still remember all the details) This child was crying and begging for his mama, I stroked his head and promised him that he would be alright and he would see his mama soon. (words I never repeated to another patient) 2 blood infusion pumps set up and 26 pints blood later- he died. If I could rewind that night for all I would.
