A collection of thoughts and comments on various topics. |
This is a place for me to capture thoughts, ideas, snippets of this and bits of that, that don't seem to lend themselves to one of the more traditional item types. |
I don't know what sparked the desire to track this down, but it was one of my favorite MasterCard commercials: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MONUmBB6PsM |
43 years ago today, I asked Him if I could be His child. I would love to say that, since then, I've always behaved in a manner sure to please Him. However, that would be one of the bigger fibs you've ever come across. My failures notwithstanding, I've never doubted my relationship with Him. Thank you, Father. |

Venturesome Youth The young man's heart was racing as he drove, his mind unsure which wording would be best to guarantee a drive-in movie date and garner a sweet kiss (Please, kindly Fate!). His tongue in knots he makes his interest known, and with her "Yes!" is certain Grace has shown. |
I went on Active Duty with the U.S. Army on this date in 1973. Forty-six years ago. Un-freaking-believable. |
I went for a walk this morning. As I passed a restaurant, I saw that one of their signs advertised a "Cajun Boil". I have no idea how they get away with advertising apparent cannibalism. However, the abandoned cars with Louisiana tags hidden behind the building now make a lot more sense. |
The Gift Our first Christmas tree, a table-top tree had tinsel and ornaments small. Each one set in place at deliberate pace. I watched my love work from the hall. Each year something new, as our family grew, little pictures and drawings from school. Smiling faces all 'round, hearts with love still abound, a passion the years cannot cool. This Christmas we'll see, just what kind of tree will make its way into our home. No wreath will she place, no smile on her face: She is gone, and I am alone. [12 lines] |
An 8-line triolet for today's entry, based on an image prompt [2186816] For Freedom's Sake You left your home for Freedom's sake, Your service faithful, honor-filled. With burdened heart and much at stake, You left your home for Freedom's sake. So, even though some cried, "Mistake!" And raged against the blood we'd spilled, You left your home for Freedom's sake. Your service faithful, honor-filled. |
