For weeks Alina lay in the hospital in a coma as her mother comes daily to see her. In the beginning her mother had stayed for a few days without leaving.

"RIINNNGG" "RIINNGGG" Dashing for the phone Mariana pulls it off the wall.
          "Hello who is it?"
"Hello is this Ms. Mariana? Are you Alina's mother?"
          "Yes."
"This is the hospital calling. Your daughter isn't doing well." Unable to breath, Mariana slides to the floor. "She is breathing Ms. Mariana but we don't know how long that will last. Please come to the hospital immediately." Mariana drops the phone and grabs her keys running out the front door.

Alina lies still in the hospital bed. Mariana reaches for her hand and holds it tight watching as her daughter struggles through each breath.
"Ma'am there is nothing else we can do but pray she survives." The doctor pats Mariana's shoulder gently and leaves her with her daughter.
"Hold on my beautiful girl. You're so strong you can get through this. Please fight your way out baby." She whispers tears filling her eyes. "Lord, please let me hear her voice one more time." Mariana kneels beside her daughter’s bed and prays. "Please Lord don't let her suffer longer please take her home if that is Your will. You gave Your son so we could live so you know my pain Lord. I trust whatever You choose."

All day she stays with her daughter and waits overcome with peace. That night Alina awakes and looks at her mother. With tears sparkling in her eyes she gently squeezes her mother's hand.
"Momma, God said it's time for me to go. I love you." Mariana pulls her daughter into her arms and cries. Her Lord had answered her prayer and now her baby had gone to wait for her in heaven.

The next day Mariana slowly walks into the house and into the kitchen she places some coffee on and glances at the calendar above the coffee pot. September 3 the day before had Mariana's name scrawled on it with a balloon beside it. Tears fill Mariana's eyes as she stares at the calendar.
"Lord thank you for letting my baby speak to me one last time on my birthday. That's the best birthday present I've ever received."

"So glad this had to be less than 1000 word I wouldn't have been able to write longer already can't see the page."
