So... I'm back! It's taken me a long time to get back into writing since Uni, as I got out of the habit of doing it in my spare time for fun, as I was doing it so often for the course. Should have some new things coming soon if I get my butt in gear. In the mean time- review the stuff that's currently in my portfolio and I'll be happy to give a review back!
Pleased to say that I will be graduating my degree with a pretty decent grade, which is a 2:1. Additionally, last creative piece was two percent off a first, so I have renewed faith in my ability to write! Anyone whose been through the education system these days will understand why I needed to feel validated through getting marks like these, the hard work paid off! I am going travelling soon, hopefully the things I will see while away will provide some inspiration, so expect to see posts with a new theme in mind!
going to need a little belief that I'm any good at writing, marks for uni assignment were abysmal...
heartbroken *Cry*
Assignments and writing for pleasure are two very different things. But even if it's true that you're not very good yet (and I'm not saying it is), the only way is up. You can be better, but only if you keep trying. I certainly need to keep working at it. We all do. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other (or one letter after the other) and you'll get there.
If you need a reason to believe, how about the fact that everybody gets a "bad review." Some top-notch professionals pan or reject things that turn out to be world class bestsellers. OR the fact that Stephen King occasionally has a lemon he can't sell.(According to an interview in Writer's Digest.) Or, how about the fact that Uni is like the "major leagues," when you go up a step you need to step up your game. It's to be expected, everybody hits a sour note; not even the best work will be universally loved; and everybody has to improve. Everybody has to improve. If Shakespeare were alive today, the only thing sure about him is that he'd be working harder than you are to step up his game. (And there's nobody can be sure they're half as good as he is.)

So don't be heartbroken, be inspired. If it's bad, that only means it can be improved.
anxiously awaiting my grades from my first proper creative assignment at University- keep fingers crossed for me?
