Logging in for the first time in months. I've missed it here! I'm sure there are lots of new stories for me to read, anxious to dive in.

If anyone has something fun for me to review, I'll be happy to help!

Lots of cool things call trinkets. Check your Community Newsfeed, and work your way back through October to get at least 100 of those still available for grabs - they say "Collect" on them.

or look here:

I have a question for anyone who has an answer!

When it comes to metaphors... they are amazing and enrich stories. However, how do you use metaphors in high fantasy? Do you think it's appropriate to use descriptions that are considered everyday for our world, if they are not understood in the world you're creating?

For example, "it surrounds him like a swarm of bees." What if bees do not exist in the world you've created?

Thoughts?
I'm no expert, but if bees don't exist, I probably wouldn't use them as a metaphor. Is there another form of insect in your new world that could be a swarm of some sort? But like I said, I'm no expert. *Facepalm*
I would recommend keeping it within the "reality" of the particular world. Perhaps something like "It envelopes him like smoke from a <___fill in the blank____>."
Thank you for your responses! This is helpful. I'm struggling coming up with metaphors that apply to the world I've created, but I don't want to use something from OUR world and pull the reader out of the one I've created. Thanks again!

...but in the process of completing those chapters, I wrote my first battle scene. If anyone is interested in, or has experience with writing battle scenes, I'd love some feedback!

Hoping someone can help me. When i first joined i noticed an option to give a group 100,000 GPs in exchange for them reviewing an entire novel. Now that I'm nearing the end of my fantasy book, The Seven, I can't find that option. Does anyone know what I'm talking about our where I might find this? Thanks in advance!

Click on Community in the left column of the window and you will find Request a Review. You can set whatever amount you choose, I think... *Smile*
