Firing up the old grill, top sirloin stuffed with cheddar and bellpepper. My three-layer skillet, onion over eggplant over chopped bacon.

Soda water, a finger or four of corn spirit, lime and grenadine. Two fresh-picked honeysuckles to garnish.

Winter is going.
*Sun* Hi! *Smile*
I thought I'd say 'hello' while I was visiting your port! *Smile*

New chapter, I could really use some feedback if anyone wouldn't mind too much. "Invalid Entry

I really want to nail down a believable and deep character; she's the main character's best shot at redemption... or damnation. *Smile*

I'm really weak at writing female characters, so spare me nothing!
It brings me a sense of pride to scroll through my portfolio and see all the things I've created, all of my "crooked pictures, looking good." I know not all of it is writing and each may not be a masterpiece, but it's definitely nice to realize that a thing you've been nurturing has grown and taken on a form you can be proud of.

"Psychopath" and "sociopath" are two better known diagnoses which fall into the slightly broader clinical diagnosis of Antisocial Personality Disorder. One defining feature of APD is a lack of empathy for other people. Television and popular culture have embalmed the APD-afflicted person as a stock-character for murder/crime dramas, most often inaccurately. Even when accurately represented in popular film (such as 'Dexter' or 'American Psycho'), APD is nearly always associated with murder. While a disproportionate number of criminals do exhibit APD, the vast majority of afflicted persons are not physically violent and only a small portion of those who are physically ever commit murder.

The most wide-reaching and common violence engaged in by persons with APD is interpersonal. Unlike murder, individuals are highly likely to engage in manipulative, nonreciprocal, coercive, or otherwise harmful social behavior- hence the name of the disorder. A combination of "empathy-deficiency" and impulsiveness allow APD persons to break the normal rules of social interaction that pro-social persons depend on without the guilt, shame, or fear of consequence which typically follow abusive social behavior. In fact, such individuals often find this kind of behavior rewarding for its own sake and prefer it over other and possibly more effective methods of persuasion and interaction. Dominance and control are often central interpersonal motivations.

I think this kind of violence is more powerful than premeditated murder, more chilling than killing without remorse, and magnitudes more interesting than television's crime-dramas.

There has been a lot of confusion so I'd like to make a correction/clarification. Contest entries DO NOT have to be about your own personal experiences. They can be and will be assumed to be entirely fictional unless otherwise stated. Poems can be about the darker or hidden side of characters or even people you know. They don't have to be your confessions, they just have to be confessions. If you're too embarrassed to share the contents of your little black book, then feel free to dig into or create someone else's *Wink* Thanks!

I've also added (possibly permanent) honorable mention prizes, so even more contestants will win *something.* Stop on in!
