Happy Birthday!
Sigh. . . does anybody else have as hard of a time brainstorming as me? I have great building blocks to a book so far, and even have 100 pages of it written from my first nano, but I really lack a deeper plot. Well. . .unique plot I suppose. It just always feels like my ideas start running the same course as every fantasy book already in existence. Dang it brain! Give me something good to work with! Sigh. . . is my creativity dying?
Fantasy is sometimes a hard one to be unique on even though we're making new worlds never seen before. Don't give up, I always find inspiration reading my favorite fantasy books and seeing what they did 'right' about spinning it unique in their own style. Keep at it! *Heart*
Thanks for the encouragment! ^_^ I need to practice some brainstorming techniques or something.. lol
Just a reminder, it is now mid October. Hurry and enter even a short piece in the "Invalid Item! Some people are missing out on easy merit badges, not to mention their season spirit!

New and Old items are accepted, so if you don't already have a piece to place then I think your portfolio is in need of a new addition!

Right now you could come in and practically steal 2 merit badges at the rate everyone's spirit is lacking. So come in and spill your guts! Pumpkin guts that is. . .
Silly question. Is Tolkien's elvish language copyrighted? Upon digging into that, I find that I keep getting mixed information.

How long do you think it would take to create a language from scratch?

On that note. . . Who has created their own language?
I thought it was an actual language... don't they teach it at Oxford (or one of the other big British Universities)?
Also, Katherine Kerr uses elvish language in here DaggerSpell series. I do know she had issues with some scholars because she removed all the accents for ease of reading...
Interesting CJandMuse! That's where I keep running into the clarity of it all. It's an actual created language, and a taught language, so how does that fall under copyrighting? But at the same time, it is his works and used in his books/ inspired movies etc. It seems like it would be copyrighted, but I couldn't find clear info on it when I was looking it up. lol
Hmm. . . Well, this is my first notebook rambling. Anybody prepping for NaNo? Can anybody even see this? Hello? (echo. . echo...echo)

Hello Ghoulishly! I'll have to keep an eye out for your posts. ;) I haven't had a chance to get on the forum a whole lot yet other than to fill out an entry log. As much as I'd like to cross a 2nd nano finish line (1st was 2013), this is literally the busiest year of my life. But, here I am biting off more than I can chew, lol. At least I've kept ahead of the 72 hr mark yet for prep, heh. So, here's to hoping! And Good Luck to you!
Yup, definitely prepping for NaNo. Are you using the assignments over at the "October Novel Prep Challenge?
Yes. :) They've been pretty helpful in getting me to finally get to work on a building a world, although the assignments are slow going. I'm going to continue on my first NaNo book for this one. When I first started I just wrote. Literally had not even one character name, lol. Actually turned out pretty good despite that, but now I'm excited as I build a better picture. Just needed a little arm twisting. ;) How're you guys doing so far?
