I love your description of the old couch and the new one. It brought back memories of my mom upholstering our couch with cheap sheets, and putting long boards under the cushions to give it stabilty. nicely written.

I really enjoyed the story. It has a feeling of "It" in it. That is, childhood traumas revisited in adulthood, manifesting into a nightmarish reality.
