What a comparison between swimming pool and the pool of emotion.
One can sit and dwell in their sorrows or make their way across the bridge to a better, happier life.

I think sometime in everyone's life, they find themselves almost cheated and hurt from others around them. This writing piece is a must read for those who think they are alone. Because they are not.

A heart warming read.

This is a nice story. It's been awhile since I read fantasy.
I would like to point out a couple things to you. I'm not trying to pick, but thought you might have missed these items.
In one place, you switched from talking about him to her. 'But he soon tired of her touch and squawked until she put her down.'
Where you tell about her and the baby riding the horse, you mention trio road away. I read only two people on the horse, not three. The other point I wanted to mention is 'rode' not 'road.'

I'm not very good with poems. I found this one powerful in that it went through the ages of time, talking about family and their history. It was also kind of ironic that Annie is a character in my short story "The Deadly Intercept." She is a little girl in it.
I got a little confused on one part of your poem, where you are in the hidden room, then when you come out, you are in the attic. I expected to be in the basement. If the extra room was in the ground, you wouldn't notice it being there. If you went to it from the attic, that suggests it's part of the upper structure of the house, and it could be. It would be harder to conceal.
