Although, I didn't have a lake to remember, this so reminded me of working cattle all day in the heat and coming upon a resevoir to water the herd and horses in. So many times, we would ride our horses right into the water as deep as they would go and get even a brief respite ourselves from the heat and dust. Some horses will actually lay down (even saddled) in a reservoir when they're hot and thirsty...this can be cause for great concern for kids who could get pawed under...but we never gave it a thought. Somehow, we all survived quite well without government warnings to the contrary. Thanks for sharing this...it was a great reminder!
