Net/net: I very much enjoyed this story. It was evocative and I felt a sense of place in both narrative tracks. The characters were allowed to breath and they felt alive.

Where I feel the story needs some work is the pacing towards the back half and the chase to find Thunder Bow and Night Bear. It feel very abrupt and over quickly. I don't feel quite as much shock and loss at Pup's death as I think I could because it simply doesn't feel like he was allowed to develop as a character much either. I would have liked to have seen more through his eyes of what was happening.
