This is nice i like time travel stories I was hoping for more of what happens after the time travel. It is a nice set up, giving you insight to the girl's life. I would drop the last word and keep writing. There are a few words that could be changed. Like in the line.

However, a peculiar thing on the ground at caught her attention not long after
"had" caught her attention
Keep writing and have fun.
