Review of The Greatest Gift

"What if you're a combination of both? What if internally you are positive and pure, but then life struggles cause you to be more negative and let your ego guide you?"


These words have filled my plate and I have been thinking much the same. It would seem that life is perhaps conflict. We use two archetypal forces "good" and 'evil". Suffering and Happiness, light and dark, a duality. But is it fair to bring into question the importance of both these archetypal forces? Let us say that the darkness is labeled as evil. But it is darkness that represents the unknown. It prompts curiosity and finally leads to question. It is in darkness that the light shines the brightest. But it goes beyond labels. It is my perception that morality is man made. Right and wrong are merely moral devices of our own design. If indeed life is conflict then both these labels are necessary. Great "good" can come from a some "evil" as great "evil" can come from little "good". I have found that the greatest truths, the greatest lessons have come from the darkest and most painful experiences in my life. I do not scorn or think poorly of these experiences but embrace them as they are responsible for a part of my design.

Forgiveness: Some one lashes harsh words with their tongue like the sting of a whip. But what is to note is your own will in the case of such a transgression. We all harbor anger and all with our own purpose. No forgiveness is needed if you do not take offense. All words that escape our lips are simply words and we assign them meaning. Though is a testament of the will to have such resolve. We are human and we fall prey to our devices (words, thoughts, etc). In this case because we lack the will forgiveness is then the key. We will take offense but we decide it. Our mood is determined by the strength of our will, everything is an addiction.

These are my thoughts at least. Do keep me in mind we will not agree on everything and rightfully so. How else would I learn anything?
