A great work of fiction. The conflict, character and the setting are done beautifully. The writing is eloquent and articulate.
I would like it better if the darkness and the mutilated body were described in more detail. Also, you need to make it readable to today's generation, which has a frightfully short attention span. Therefore, add some obvious but effective attention grabbers along the way.

This is a beautiful piece of literature. The description of the feelings experienced are quite accurate. The setting and the conflict outlined in this story are fabulous.
I think the story would be better with the character being more well-defined. We need to have a clear-cut concept of what the main character looks like.
Also, there should be a space between the words "et" and "cetera", that is, et cetera instead of etcetera.
