This is my life in a nutshell. I go to work, to the grocery store and do what I need to do; however, I am most happy in my home. I find peace and solace there.

Suggestion: She had probably dialed this number for the twenty-fourth time. Or She dialed this number twenty-four times.
It's amazing how some people can just get over other so quickly, makes you wonder if they even had feelings at all.
I understand this so much, experienced the same. No one ever called to check on me nor asked me to return - it's like out of side out of mind. I know how personal this is to you. I enjoyed reading your poem.
This made me very sad...as I have the same memories of my own mother and now wonder if my son feels the same about me. I think it is sometimes hard for people to express their feelings. I believe your last sentence, "This memory now brings me regret..." why would you regret it if it is the only memory you have where you felt at ease. Maybe for regret of all the other times when you didn't feel that way?
A little twist at the end...so its a dream and your mother really isn't a vampire? Because if she was you wouldn't be able to see her reflection in the mirror...well that's the way I'm reading it. I like the twist - and it is you're too strong.
