Okay, that's just a little weird, Orangetail and Jenkins are related? Although the whole possession bit and slamming the kitsune against the wall was kind of funny. Still, wouldn't Bloodtooth have noticed earlier if Orangetail smelled like Jenkins?

Well, looks like this is about to get interesting. I'm a little disapointed that we didn't get to see the reunion between the cousins, but seeing Orangetail squirm should be good. I wonder if we'll get to see him find out that the real star of his favorite movie is really a human?

Basically a review of some of the things we learned earlier. I don't quite get the bit about their being in a case, but it might make sense later. The cosins still haven't met yet, and with nothing new being introduced, this one's a bit of a slow read. But, hey, eyery good story has one or two of those.

It must be nice to have firends in 'high' places, if you catch my drift. Bloodtooth takes Tabatha to a giant friend of hers before they set off for the base. It'll be interesting to see Jenkins reaction when Bloodtooth shows up with the cousin that he only found out he had a day or so before.

Yep, rude surprise. A guy's gotta be carefull who he takes out, girls arn't shy and demure anymore. Of course considering that a bunch of the 'girls' in this world are carnivores, I don't know that they ever could have been 'shy and demure'. Bloodtooth certainly isn't!

Another tough old geezer. This army seems to have them comming out the wazoo. I think I'm kind of missing something though, if all Jenkins' great-grangfather did was teach the army that humans are comrads, not rations, then what's so important about keeping it secret? It seems like everything they do would scream 'we don't eat our humans' to anyone with eyes.

Hmmm, another member of the Jenkins clan on the loose? This could get interesting. Make's me wonder what all this is leading up to. (Yeah, I know BB, 'keep reading and find out') The whole bit with the marks is a little odd though, what's the point of marking someone for their own protection, and then hideing the mark?

OUCH, Doc's got a mean streak. Whatever happened to that 'do no harm' bit, or did Hipocreties (I had to have misspelled that) get eaten before he could write it? Still, the old human dropping a giant with just a snap of his fingers is pretty cool, to say nothing of the girl.

And I used to think my mom was hard on me when I went back to sleep on school days, LOL. Bloodtooth's tossing and thumping recruits left and right, and all the while keeping up a friendly chat with Jenkins. I wonder if parrents with lots of school-age kids have mornings like this.

A bit more about Bloodtooth's past. Seems she's been one busy lady, saving all kinds of people from all sorts of things. It would be kind of interesting if your gifts and awards could talk to you, though. She's also got skills on other battlefields, it seems, though from what I read earlier I kind of thought she'd be older.

Shaun-Connery, huh. LOL. He might have a bit of trouble fitting in the Red October. Probably wouldn't be a bad dragon though, and I'm not even going to touch 'League of Extrodaniry Gentlemen'. As for what he is, well, just ask anyone who's survived boot camp and they'll say this guy/guys isn't too far off. Maybe a little on the tall side, but that about it.

The rest of the new meat is waking up. I have to say, it'd be interesting to meet one of these shapshifters. I wonder what they look like when they arn't looking like something they arn't. The idea of paring the recruits with whatever scares them the most is kind of interesting, but what if the recruit isn't scared of anything, or what their scared of can't be mimicked?

A zombe blowing reverie, huh? That's a little different, some kind of remake of 'Dawn of the Dead'? Sorry, bad joke. Anyway, in this chapter we leard a bit more about Jenkins' great-grandfather's effect on the military. To be honist, it souns a little like a sermon to me, but I supose that most high ideals do.

A chance to learn a bit more about Tiny. Seems the only thing bigger than him is his heart. it would be interesting to see his kiction though, fifty or so humans running around cooking, and a three-eyed giant stuffing whole oxen in the oven. I wonder how he can cook enough to keep up with a regement of giants his size.

Well, Jenkins dosn't know about being swallowed yet, but he does find out about why his family was killed. I wonder if knowing makes it better or worse for him? Maybe better because he now knows that they wern't killed by some random psyco out for kicks, or worse bacause they were singled out because of a history they didn't even know about?

As the dust settles, Bloodtooth and Wolfblood (don't these people have suce lovely names?) casually lie to the cops about the fireworks. I wonder how Jenkins will react when he finds out that the girl he's got a crush on swallowed him whole? Maybe it'd be best to leave out that little detail.

A hot shower with a hot lady werewolf, followed by a meal and lively conversation. And they're not even dateing. Tiny's a hoot, too. If the school lunch ladies had looked like him, I probably would have complaned about the food less.

Another of those questions I don't want to ask; could this get any weirder? I'm not even sure what to say about this part, it so out there. It seems that in this world, the public shcool system is as screwy as the military (and you can take that however you like).

Rules, regs, imposable tests, and jumping down a werewolf's throat. I'd ask if this day could get any worse, but I get the feeling that it's going to. I get the feeling that in this army, if you survive boot camp then you not only pass, you pass at the top of you class, 'cause everyone else will be dead!

I've heard of waking up dead, but being dead and then waking up? Anyway, it does give a little different view of werewolves than most stories, and that's always refreshing. what I want to know, though, if that was the entrence exam, what the hack is basic training like?!

Yeash. And I thought my ROTC drill squad seargeant was tough. At least when he tore into us for something, it was only a figure of speach. If you like army stories and monster movies, you've come to the right place.
Boot camp + bloodthirsty werewolf = TROUBLE!

Review of Oh the Cost
Review by Levi Blau
Rated: 13+ | (4.0)
I wonder if something like this goes throug the mind of every wounded soldier as he considers death. It's funny - and not in the 'ha ha' way - most of us talk at one time or other about how we value our freedom, yet those who pay for it in blood, do so by giving their freedom up and fighting for people the've never met. How many of us would be willing to do the same?
Just something to think about, and this poem poses some questions of its own.

NIce. If you overlook the fact that the speakers arn't human, this could be a conversation between any green soldier and his sergeant on a dark Christmas night on the front lines. Some people might have a problem with monsters - which are "pagen", after all - talking about the birth of Christ, but I say those people can take a flying leap off whater tall object is at hand. This is a nice bit of Christmas writing with a bit of a twist.
