Beautiful...I love the inspiration and validation of this piece. As a mother I can relate...to the pain, the hardships, the frustrations our children go through. And although we can't always fix everything for them as hard as we may try...we do know. The love within this work is evident and the tone shines through...I'm not an expert on poetry by no means but this work is (in my opinion) good poetry. Can't wait to see more.
Wow! Dark and surreal. A statement of society that none want to see, hear or feel. A statement of all that is wrong and terrible about all societies...communities of the world. This work shows empathy from the writer, demonstrates the pain of the walking wounded, the outcasts, the forgotten. I could feel the words...see in my minds eye the creation of the dark and cold streets littered with debris and the last line struck a chord deep in my heart...'And baptized in filth.'
I wonder if more could not have been said because I feel this small portion of writing has just scratched the surface of a much larger piece. Your play on words (and I love words), left the reader with a sense of loss and tragedy. It makes me wonder...what has happened to the girl? To the babe? Is there a further story here? Would love to see more.
