Review of The Sea
Review by Rorschach
Rated: E | (4.5)
The first time I read this the words strike me as beautiful and well chosen. It was on the second read that I saw deeper into the lines and began to appreciate it in a fuller sense.

In the first verse you mention being caught between ocean and endless sky. Here I imagine you on a boat far out at sea in bright daylight looking off into the horizon and not able to tell where the ocean seems to touch the sky. I find this image calming and relaxing.

Indeed there are more adventures involving man and sea than can be counted. Some terrifying, some exciting. These words bring to mind the Titanic and is a reminder that the ocean can be merciless. It seems that these adventures, or rather the promise of more adventures call to you, beckoning you out into the blue beast.

The mention of it calling to you from birth and a lighthouse makes me believe you have always lived by the sea and you feel a connection to it no matter where you go, as if it's a sister you've grown up with.

The fourth verse tells me about how your so drawn to the ocean, the pull of it's magnificence so strong that all your natural fears of its unforgiving character seem insignificant and are overruled.

The call of the sea and will forever have a hold on you, (this is what her nets have been cast means to me. I like the irony of that thought. Man has always cast nets in the sea to catch fish, now the sea itself has cast its nets and trapped a person, all be it metaphorically). The final verse nicely brings to end the poem, and the final line especially.

I found this poem to flow nicely and the rhyming was perfect. It had a very peaceful and soothing tone and it also made me feel happy. Ideally it would be nice to close my eyes and have someone read it to me so I can just relax and let the images created just drift into my mind to fully appreciate the effect.

Nice work *Smile*
