I went to grade school with a guy like that. He was my aunt's neighbor and she adored him haha. He tried to get me wrapped around his finger more times than I can count, and I'll be the first to admit I fell for it several times (I never hooked up with him though; I like to think of myself as rational). They do give good ideas to write about with their poetic way with words, though. I really enjoyed this. There are a few punctuational errors (like the ellipsis in the eighth paragraph from the bottom. It should be inside the quotation) and word errors (for example, in the eleventh paragraph from the bottom you used "past" when it should be "passed"). Overall, it was great. I have a short attention span, generally, and I read it through without once thinking of stopping. I hope you got free lunch for the week. :)

Review of Why I Write

Parents always get the blame. ;) I was an avid reader when I was younger too. I was always asking my parents what words meant (and why they mean what they mean, because I was that irritating kid who asks "Why?" to every single thing that was said). I got a dictionary for one of my birthdays and that's still my favorite present ever. Keeping an unabridged dictionary is a beautiful idea that I think I might use. This was thoroughly enjoyable to read; I love your tone. Kudos to your parents for raising a grammar-conscious child. :)

I wish I could write poetry, but, alas, not all are called to be poets. This is absolutely beautiful. As a sufferer of anxiety and depression, this speaks to me on a soul level. You've done a very successful appeal to emotion, and I love the symbolism.
