I think that it is important to remember that compassion and care for the health of our fellow citizens must have it's limits: If we truly care for someone then we must learn to respect their choices. At the age of 18 one may feel invincible, but they are not incapable of considering the facts and coming to their own, informed decision.
It is absolutely not the role of the government to enforce a moral code which may or may not be supported by those who are paying for it. The individual, and the individual alone, may decide when they are old enough to drink. It is a decision best made by individuals and not by bureaucrats in government.
To deny this is to deny freedom to our fellow citizen, which is the least compassionate thing imaginable to man.

I totally agree with your ideas- I just wish there were more people concerned with liberty here in Britain.

This is well written and to-the-point, and it's excellent to know that I'm not the only person who is still committed to the values of 1776. It's difficult for some people to comprehend the idea that too MUCH government, and not too LITTLE government, is the cause of the problems in the world.
Let's hope America gets her act together again soon, as it is America who must lead the way when it comes to freedom.
