This is a powerful description of the agony of obsession. I'm intrigued by one line

"Yet to keep him near, I must not reveal
The truth behind every word I speak."

I'm reminded of a book I read a few years ago in which women revealed their regrets whenever they did not tell a man how they felt (and later losing their interest). This is a no-win situation - telling him might drive him away. Not telling him might mean he eventually loses interest (if he too is shy). The only way to find out for sure is to take the risk yourself. Rejection hurts (personal experience!) but being unable to express your feelings hurts as well. In the short term, risk-takers suffer lots of rejection. Over the longer term, risk-takers are the cats that get the cream. Is this person worth the risk? The judgement call has to be yours.
