Intense situation! As always, your writing grabs my attention right away. I think this plot really works because of how well you've paced the story. You always leave me wanting to know what happens next.
Well written but really sad, because I believe this happens to a lot of seniors. It's not something I'm not looking forward to. The only consolation is that I'm still single, so I won't have to go through my last years missing a loved one.

I imagined I was there in the room with him. Encouraging him to keep trying and then feeling so bad for him when it didn't work out the way he wanted it to.

You put a lot of thought into this and it shows. I totally agree that the government needs to be reformed. It would be nice to have those in charge actually work for the people and not themselves or corporations. Too bad Howie and Julie aren't real. They remind me a little bit of Neo and Trinity.
