Review of After Arrival Day
Review by Barbara
Rated: 13+ | (5.0)
I really enjoyed this Z.G., and you are right it is still in its raw stage, but I like it like that because it shows your true mind. All editing does, is show that you know how to correct things. LOL. Anyway, I was right in the story with the poor guy that was writing a parody of teaching one's self, as opposed to school.

But even though this was a sci-fi thriller, it still was on topic, becaue it showed how a young person can educate themselves, and still be able to ... enjoy? ... life. Thank you for sharing and the 5.0 rating isn't enough for the topic of this story.

And YES, please continue this...please?

Love & hugs,
Barbara

I love blackberry pie, collard greens, shrimp, grits sweet potato pie, potato salad, and i'm a yankee lol. There a lot of other things that are traditionally southern that I like too. My daddy was born and raised in Texarkana, Texas, but I have never been there. I wonder if taste is hereditary? Thank you for sharing this with us.

Review of Dreams
Review by Barbara
Rated: E | (5.0)
OMG this is so emotionally packed. The scenery is beautiful, and dark at the same time. The images of the great white, the earthquakes, the turbulent, almost tsunami like waves barring your way back to Tasmania, are all images we face, in different ways and struggles, and the images may change, but the horrid dream is the same.

I am very glad you were able to pull yourself and your son from the grips of the ring of fire, and free yourselves from the abuses you both suffered.

I lived in Mooroolbark, Victoria, an eastern suburb of Melbourne for 8 1/2 months and I longed for the shores of America, and the abuses I had to suffer while I was there seemed so insurmountable that I couldn't get out from under them.

But like you, I was able to reach out a finger, and someone helped me out of the rubble so I could return home.

This poem is charged with emotion, heart, and soul. The scenery is a painted picture of a serene beach blocked by insurmountable odds. I saw the sharks baring their teeth to keep you at bay, I saw the waves of the turbulent waters slapping you back to the shores of America. I saw your family and friends waiting for you on the beach.

I felt your pain of wanting to go home so bad, it left a sour taste in your mouth when you found that you couldn't.

What did I like about this poem? Everything. What didn't I like aboutthis poem? Nothing, because I have been there more than I care to admit.

Thank you for sharing this emotional, painted story that has a happy ending.

Love & hugs,
Barbara

Review of Brazen Leaves
Review by Barbara

This is a very good tribute to the season Autumn. It's summer here now, but in a month or month and a half, the leaves will turn brown, and fall from the tree. This poem about the leaves of autum is powerfully emotional, even though it is about nature.

Thank you for sharing.

Purrrrrrrrfect Nicki. On Valentine's day 2007, my sweetie sent me a dozen blood red roses. I put them in water right away and on my windowsill so they would get sunshine, and they lasted a whole week. Thank you for sharing this gift.

Thank you for the history lesson, racer4. But I lived through that history. There is one thing I disagree with though. Why do we celebrate the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther KIng, Jr., and not the ment who made him a household name? Namely we do not have a celbration on the anniversary of the death of John Fitzgerald Kennedy, or his brother Robert Francis Kennedy, who were also assinated in the 1960's. Another thing I toally disagree with is that blacks always blames white pepople for keeping the black poor, and downtrodden. I agree with Bill Cosby in that it is the black community itself that is keeping itself poor and downtrodden. While I agree that all people (men and women) are created equal, and certain inherent rights, I disagree that the white community is the cause of it.

I am not a racist, I have never been one. But when a black person tells me that the whites owe them aliving for keeping their ancestors in slavery for over 350 years, I just have to throw up, it makes me so sick.

I drive taxicab in MIlwaukee, Wisconsin, and one night a black woman passenger told me that the most racist person in the world is a black person. She told me not only are blacks prejudiced against whites, but also more so against their own race. With this kind of thinking, and rampant drug use, illiteracy, and not wanting to succeed, the black community is going to be in its rut for 350 years more, or better.

When Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's., dream is finally realized, we will have gone through more than just 350 years. His dream of living side by side with the white community, and that little black children shall play with little white children, may never come to pass at all. No matter how much time goes by, it seems that the black community is satisfied to live as they are. Now even though we have successful blacks, such as doctors, lawyers, professors, police officers, congress persons and senators, the black community will always be poor, because they lack the spirit to succeed, thinking it is their color holding them back. It isn't.

The black community needs to stop placing blame for their plight and wake up and look around them, and they will see that the once nice homes, and yards that were there, are just tenements in a ghetto, and the white community didn't make the ghetto, the black community did, because of their ignorance. Ignorance can be cured by education, but stupidity is forever. Which of these two do you think the black community should be?

This historical story was written from your heart; anyone can see that. But still, I do agree that the black community has miles to go, before they sleep. WRITE ON!!!!!

Love & hugs,
Barbara

Review of Don't Leave
Review by Barbara
Rated: E | (4.5)
I am in such a relationship right now, and I am forced to leave because of our differences, but everyone thinks I should stay because differences can be worked out. Not that I haven't trtied, but these differences are inconsolable, and cannot be worked out. There are a lot of people in the world, who think that maybe this is the one, and later we find out that he or she isn't. We differe in opnion, we differ in likes and dislikes, we differ the way we dress, etc., etc.

This poem touches the heart and pierces the soul, because it tells of a sour love, that can never be again. Thank you for sharing.

Love & hugs,
Barbara

Review of for a toadstool
Review by Barbara
Rated: E | (4.5)
Strangely though, this is what people do; they bow to blasphemy and hear strange voices in distant places telling them things no one else can hear. It is sometimes a shame to call myself a human being when everything around me is falling apart, and our young people are dying for nothing in strange lands, with strange customs.

This poem addresses the inner beings that we have become at the hands of evil and strange unheard utterances. This is so real and surreal, and pierces the heart and soul with food for thought. This actaully does make the reader think. Thank you for sharing.

Review of Hindsight

nothing.i.remember, you have really brought the point home. It doesn't matter how much we disagree with each other, what matters is what is in our hearts. Each time you hang up, each time you leave to go somplace, each time you look away, always, and I do mean always, say "I love you".

This is a very sadly emotional piece, on a subject that should never be, but like MD, AIDS will always be with us.

As for your friend being in a better place, he is. He is with our Lord, and no matter what the Bible says, God does not judge those unfavorably just we are gay, bi-curious, crossdressers, transsexual or otherwise transgendered. What God through His son Jesus judges us on is how we treat others, and whether we obey the 10 Commandments. There is nothing in the 10 Comandments that says we cannot be who we are in our souls.

Thank you for sharing, and maybe you would like to go over this again, and correct the spelling a grammar errors.

Love & hugs,
Barbara

Review of spirit
Review by Barbara
Rated: E | (4.5)
There are a few spelling errors throughout this poem.

The poem flows nicely, and the subject matter is very thought provoking. I have known for decades, even before it was the fad, that our "spirit" is our soul.

Because our soul IS who we are, we have to be true to ourselves, because no one else will be.

All the best,
Barbara

Review of D.I.V.O.R.C.E

I hate hypocrites! What happened to make the wife stray from her vows? Do you know for certain, that she is the one at fault? If this guy had been cheating on his wife for 10 years, what makes you think that either of them didn't have a valid reason for an extra-marital affair?

When I hear that a family member, or a friend is going through a divorce, I never assume anything, and I don't condemn, because I don't know all of the facts. And, you can't know all of the facts, from just listening to one side of the coin. Now if I had heard from all three of them, as to what was going on, maybe...just maybe...I could come to a conclusion...but...would it be the right one?

When you do not know what is really going on, even if you have known all the parties for years, means, don't gossip about things you have no real personal knowledge or interaction with.

This story was written from the heart, and I know you mean well, but I would never, and I do mean never, put my friends on front street like this. EVER!

What these people are going through is private, and between them, not the between them, you, and the world.

Thank you for sharing, but this was one subject best left alone, because it included real life people, even though you didn't name them. But those reading this, that know you, will be able to figure it out, and if they didn't know it was happening, they shouldn't have been told.

All the best,
Barbara

I really can agree with this, because I have had several so-called enemies become my friends. Maybe they weren't enemies after all. Thank you for sharing, this was written very well, and flowed. It kept me interested from line to line. This does leave the reader with food for thought.

Did they actually use weapons like these? Ewwww. I wish there were no such thing as weapons, or wars, or hatred, or crime. Everyone should treat each other, the way they wish to be treated. Everyone I talk to agrees, but no one seems to practice what they preach. Thanx for sharing.
