I came across this as I was flicking through and I am very glad I did. I very well could be mistaken but I have interpreted this as you having regenerated the established autumnal connotations of death and decay into something emancipating. As if the leaves in the wind which essentially have been liberated from their origin have become as inspiration is to you - limitless. I like the concept a great deal. Especially when you refer to words taking on life, which again is a very contradictory image to what we generally agree Autumn to be. I'm sure you could infer endless amounts from this but I'll stop here.
The structure is coherent and the rhymes are subtle. It is as if you have described the movement of these words in your mind without actually having to do because you have used these techniques so well.
This poem is difficult to review simply for the reason that it is obviously personal to you and your girlfriend. I don't think that it transcends all relationships. I could have been reading wedding vows. You have described here a perfect relationship and indeed the word 'rare' should not be taken lightly. Perhaps I am being cynical.
In terms of style, the poem is not lacking in any of the necessary features. I would like to see more of the whole picture though. Not worth much, but my constructive criticism would be to produce something more raw. Something that provides a balance between the positive and negative so as to give the reader a feeling that they are experiencing a part of your relationship by reading it.
I am a cynic though. Bare that in mind when reading this review. Otherwise, a perfectly nice poem.
