Overall, I love your subject matter. It jumped out at me. Fictionalizing the supposed affair between Hitler and his niece! Incest is fascinating! And in the context of WW2 and involving Hitler??!! Even more irresistible. I HAD to click to read it from the shameless plug page. It seems like a subject matter for best seller material in my opinion. I do guess that because it was chapter five, though, for me the first paragraph was too much about architecture (another subject I love, however) which I don't understand the relevance of yet because I haven't read chapter one. Tell me, what are 'layers of molding,' filigree, and pictorial plasterwork?
Please, for me, show more emotion in the character's voices during the first conversation. I found it hard to distinguish who was who talking after a while, so I would like you to remind me now and then who is saying what, somehow. They both talked alike to me, with the same rhythms. Does one or the other of them have a pet phrase he always uses to help me know when he is speaking, or a specifically different rhythm of speaking? Or you could say Siggy said, [main character] replied, etc. You did distinguish much better between Dr. Goebbels and the main character speaking in the second conversation! I could almost hear the Dr's voice, and I heard it as an older man. (I don't know if he is, of course.)
I am ashamed to say I couldn't continue and finish the whole thing because I was so curious to know where the niece was and what relation or contact the main character has with her, and she never appeared, so I gave up. I know I am an impatient reader though! Maybe you could describe to me somewhere or let me read a 'blurb' about the book's plot like they do on the back of published books? Do you have one? And then I can come back and read this again. You did have an excellent, dramatic way of making me more interested to read on when you spoke of 'Geli.' With that, you made me want to know if that was the niece or not.
Oh! And I love the fact that your main character is so flawed and prejudiced against Jewish people! That is a brave way to write the book, from the point of view of someone that today most people find politically incorrect and terrible in their view points! It's actually refreshing and I don't like him but I like that I don't like him! lol It makes me want to read on so I can enjoy how awful he is and see him be part of the 'losing side'! lol
Actually, I was pleasantly surprised...I didn't realize it was going to be a poem by the description before i opened it and I don't normally enjoy poetry but i started to read it because i love dancing. I found it rhythmic and melodic, like a song or music itself almost..
