This brought back memories of not only H.P. Lovecraft but his story "Shadow over Innsmouth". Not that I am comparing the two here at all, just saying the tone of the writing and the ending of the story reminded me of both. While I suspect that this story could be further polished and refined I thought it was an enjoyable story overall.
Ok far too religious oriented for my own likes BUT with that out of the way, with that said, I enjoyed the story very much. It almost seemed as if - for a while - you were channeling Howard Phillips Lovecraft in your writing story and the tone of the story. It is a very well written story with plenty of horror in it. It was a pleasure to read.
Well written and reminds me of a very good friend of mine who is in a relationship similar to this poem. We (that is all of her friends) hope that she will develop the strength to tell her loved on that's over with, much as your narrator does. Once again very well written and worth reading. Thank you for sharing!
