Very good picture of the past and the present. My favorite part is the "One thing
I know has not changed, burning of buildings churches or shops, hurting others, looting and killing cops, wont give life back to those we lost.
So true. Stop the lawlessness. Live according to Gods law of love.

Very scary for a child to get choked. I stepped on a spider barefooted when I was a child
and that experience was very traumatic. I couldn't stop thinking that it was still stuck to the bottom of my foot. I still cant stand the sight of a spider.

Excellent writing, the story is very easy to follow. Using the first person narrative to express the thoughts and feeling of the rescued dog is perfect, reminds me of the movie Homeward Bound. You have talent, thank you for sharing this piece.
