Lament for a loss

Lilting laughter lines liven her face,
Love lends softness to liquid eyes,
Lavender perfume,
Lilac gown,
Lady Lorraine
Limps to the chaise lounge set out on the lawn.

Leaning on Lady Lenore’s strong left arm then
Lowers herself ladylike into the chair.
Ladies living beyond their time
Lady-like down to the
lace tucked in their sleeves, sipping
Lemonade in frosted glasses, from
Lemons picked from the lemon tree.

Last of the Ladies from
L’ de Leganceange,
Listen! You can hear the music still.
Listen! As well to the sounds of the war when these
Ladies danced and these
Ladies laughed and these
Lovely ladies let young men cry of
Loves left behind and
Let them
Love again.

Late edition:
L’Avenone News-
Ladys Lenore and Lorraine
Left this world behind today
Longing for a time
Long ago-
Long
Lost.
