I read about this fisherman at www.cnn.com.
The Gulf Coast fisherman
stands before a sign.
Open for four hours on
11 September 2005.
Craves a shot of liquor
and a cold beer
It will go a long way
to restoring some creature comforts.

He lost his boat
he lost his home.
Never really had a family.
Now craves the life
he left and lost.

He will settle for
the normalcy that comes
with burning throat
and a warm belly.
He knows a drink
won't return life
to the way it was
before Katrina came.

The Gulf Coast fisherman
has sailed the rough seas
where old charts and maps
tell tales and cry
Abandon hope all
ye who enter here.
He knows this is but a storm.
He will sail on.
