A dream inspired this poem
When I was a child in the sixties there was a commercial on tv of an indian warrior, he paddled his canoe to the bank of a lake and as he approached he saw all the filth that was littering his native land......the camera panned to his face and we all watched as we saw a tear run down his cheek........ one night I dreamed I was he...

OUR DISPOSABLE WORLD

Things we are led to believe
Are also things meant to deceive
Disposable diapers, where do they go
Laying there dormant forever we know

Razors , lighters and aerosol cans
Those things produced by metal hands
Plastic surrounds us in daily abuse
Whatever happened to refills and reuse?

Plastics and polys the ultimate creation
Causing all this disposable sensation
Abuse and misuse these things overlook
How many trees die to make a book?

We drain Mother Earth more and more
We turn her into nothing but a whore
10,000 trees cut down, sentenced to die
Sunday edition NY Times comes alive

Once it's used we throw it away
Although it remains day after day
This is our disposable Earth
Without any hope for rebirth...

Cigarette butts hurled to and fro
I’m just as guilty of this I know
Trade offs and sacrifices made by and by
As I look around a tear comes to my eye...
