Dutch McGregor pedals his bike into the French Quarter for a day of work.
Dutch McGregor pedals his bike.
He rolls down Robert E. Lee Drive under I-10 at Elysian Fields,
into the French Quarter for a day of work.

Folding card table lashed to back basket,
picture cards and glass orb wrapped in black velvet.
He rolls down Robert E. Lee Drive under I-10 at Elysian Fields.

Dodging around piles of garbage and abandoned cars left after Katrina,
he cruises down Royal Street in the early dawn light,
picture cards and glass orb wrapped in black velvet.

Dutch will padlock his bike to the wrought iron fence,
surrounding Andrew Jackson's monument, awaiting tourists
in need of hope for their future, palms outstretched.

It's a long way from Wisconsin's Dairy farms
to New Orleans' dirty streets and his fortune teller character,
surrounding Andrew Jackson's monument awaiting tourists.

Cowboy hatted, tattooed rock and roll gypsy,
Dutch McGregor pedals his bike,
to New Orleans' dirty streets and his fortune teller character,
into the French Quarter for a day of work.
