This is a short poem about my little brother when he was about two years old.
my brother sits softly
in his room
discovered in a slit of light

the chaos of toys and discarded clothes around him
interlace a body
hunched over a trinket in contemplating hands

his mind soars over sights unfathomable
through a city
the glittering skyline stuns the imagination

mouth laughing mutely
I contemplate brothers

so unlike the loud creatures
who live to
frustrate, this gentle being defies its own

nature.

As with all adventures
a song follows
this soaring soul’s flight

singing a self evident truth:
“Oy oy oy, I’m just a little boy.”
