This is a poem I wrote about Eowyn and Faramir.
Son of Gondor,
Sweet and kind
Younger of two brothers

Never the favorite,
Never first choice,
Left behind
And Left out

He never felt the warmth
Of his father’s love
His brother served as father,
And as mother too
But brother, father, mother,
All of them would fade
And he would bear their duty

***

Child of Rohan
Fair and tall,
Shield maiden she was called

Her face was fair,
But terrible.
Her smile was hardly seen.
She was like the winter:
Harsh, never seeing spring.

She never watched the sunrise,
But clung to the sunset.
She spoke her fears to darkness,
And in its confines,
She wept.
