A poem about being attacked by a pack of angry dogs.
It was the typical small rural town
where helpful police are often found.
The man was a well-known souse.
A policeman took him to his house.

It was decided not to put him in jail;
still the drunk started to rant and rail.
As soon as he opened his front door,
out poured at least five dogs or more.

The dogs were ferocious in their assault.
The policeman backed away as he fought,
until he made it to safety in his patrol car.
Then he drove to the ER, which wasn’t far.

Quickly the news spread throughout town;
the officer was bitten but not brought down
by the pack of savage dogs. Every bite
and gash by the dogs was below knee-height.

The officer said, “In an hour or so I’ll be back
at work. After all, it was just a Chihuahua pack.
Being attacked by angry Chihuahuas rankles
since mostly they only do injury to your ankles.

“At least it wasn’t a pack of pesky Pekingese.
Those suckers would have messed up my knees!”
