grass stains
when I was a kid
I’d roll loglike down
the slope of long lawn,
watching carefully
my world, on a small scale
somersault around me,
grasstreeskyhousegrass,
imagining then the giant roll
of the earth
around the sun,
infinitely slow, yet
unbelievably fast—
amazed at my body’s
innate ability
to hang on for dear life
