BREATHING FIRE

Breathing fire, the dragons came,
breeching dreams, instilling fear;
beyond reality they spew out flames
blight the night as they appear.

Dark the eyes that pierce my soul,
doubting the sanity of my senses;
Devil's pawn caught in weary sleep,
dependent upon my weak defenses.

Struggle to wake, escape the wrath,
some shining knight should save me!
Sword flashing in the dragon's face,
sharp steel warning to set me free.

Fearlessly the knight approaches,
facing beasts without a single word;
forging on to end the dragon's quest,
fierce the battle, yet no sound heard.

Silence comes, and with the morning
smiles greet the brand new day...
saved at last from all the darkness;
slain the dragons, finish the fray.
