Time cannot always heal old wounds.

Using the prompt words: reflect, blew, chances, yesterday, promise, tomorrow, time, ticking.

Reflect ye not the winds of time
that blew beyond the sea.
Where promises were broken,
leaving sadness there for thee.

This yesterday the grains of sand
sifted through thy love.
As time ran out, shattered dreams,
were like the fallen dove.

Many chances thee did give
to this wretched one so bold.
Yet I could never see the signs
and let thy love grow cold.

Tomorrow happens only once
where love is sweet and pure.
But empty ticking feels so cold
when love can not endure.

In this instance the word ticking means bed linen.
