an etheree, for a contest--a poet's prayer
BALSAMIC MOON

Moon
mother
of discourse
dark as womb dark
bright as spirit light
pale on glimmering pale
seed in me nights mysteries
quicken dumb tongue with muse magic
gift me a cradle of ecstasy
birth a hypertactile language of touch.

Author's Note: A balsamic moon is the dark moon before the new, in the waning half of the lunar cycle. It is the last sliver in the eastern sky before dawn.
