My Mirror, My Loyal Heart Doth Show

My mirror, my loyal heart doth show
Though parting hath cooled the brilliant flame
Sadly, at winter's edge I hastily go
That I may abandon love's challenging game
To have departed with naught but grace
My heart longs for love's deep glorious stain
Returning to the familiar, my love's displaced
To leave for the sum of good I do proclaim
Still there remains but one who does enthrall
I love you dearest heart, you are my all.

To Gabriella, Recipient of The Golden Award

A true poet captures the reader through a careful construction of romanticism, and all poetry is indeed romantic, despite whatever the subject matter may be. This particular piece is reminiscent of the late 16th century poets and envelops a delightful flow using words which appeal to our sense of history while reflecting our present day feelings. Not many have the ability to capture this beautiful Shakespearean quality while keeping a sense of such magnificent emotional carriage. So the Golden Award goes to you, a writer I hold as one of the truest of poets.
