A muse on sonnets.

The Sonnet

There's only fourteen lines in a sonnet
that drove me nuttier than nuts last night.
Like a bee buzzing in Grandma's bonnet,
it got me up and I just had to write.
Now you may think this is really funny,
this could not happen to little old you.
But believe me when I say this honey;
if the bug hits you, you will know it's true.
There's no easy way to get around it
and no way will you ever get to sleep.
As the sonnet comes to you bit by bit
then into your repitoire it will creep.
In the end the lovely sonnets are written
of sailors sailing and lovers smitten.
