Reflections upon gaining sanity that weren't evident before.
A Parent’s Love

A parent’s love: unconditional
Adoption: the ultimate joy.

Two children three years
But worlds apart.
A fair-haired boy
The favored one.
The dark-haired girl
The lonely one.

Inequitable treatment damaged both.

A momma’s boy, now he's the perfect wife;
The black sheep, still the outcast.
He turned his back on his sister
His wife the force behind it.

She pitied him his lack of spine,
No choices were his own.
One dominant woman to another
Anatomically deficient.

The sister had the pair he lacked
And took the monkey off her back.
Miles away she made a life:
Became a student and a wife.

A daughter born opened her eyes
Parenthood had made her wise.
Never repeat the words of the past
Hurtful words … a verbal lash.

Love can make it all worthwhile
Greet your children with a smile.
Hug them, hold them, safe them keep
They are God’s joy for you to reap.
