A poem about the greed of man and how he seems bent on self destruction
Sitting in my porch swing,
I stare across the land.
Its beauty makes my heart sing,
Brillance from nature's own hand.

Sea of grass sprinkled with flowers,
Teeming life blankets the earth.
Nature revealing her powers,
Challenging man to prove his worth.

Charged to live amongst her wonder,
Without destroying its beauty.
Some how to halt man's plunder,
Our desire to consume all we see.

Or remain a spoilt child,
Left to devices of his own.
A fire running wild,
Leaving neither plant nor stone.

Is this to be our legacy,
Choosing desires over need?
How can she make us see,
We've become victims of our greed?

As I think of what lies ahead,
A single tear slips from my eye.
I watch the green run red,
The tear becoming a tide.
