What he really wanted from me and my friend.
Walking down the street
with my red friend
Cat calls and wolf whistles but
she doesn't turn around. It annoys
her when guys do that.
I don't turn around because I know
they aren't meant for me
"Can I get your digits?"
But she pretends that you don't exist
You get ticked and say, "So lighty
don't want to talk to me?" I consider the
fact that you're as dark as I am
When she doesn't even respond to that
you get mad and start yellin'
"Down with light! Up with dark! Down light! Up with dark!"
and you look at me like "you know what
I'm sayin'?" and ask me if I agree
But son please!
You don't even believe the words that are
coming out of your mouth
You didn't know the "dark girl"
existed 'til "lighty" wouldn't look
at you.You don't want the dark girl anyway!
Let's just be real, okay? For you, light makes right
male or female, light makes right
And that's what you wanted
But you couldn't have it
so now you want me
to commiserate with you
But that ain't workin', son
Not today
I can see right through you
So take back what you said about my friend
And keep on walkin'
'Cause you ain't worth our time.
