NATIONAL POW/MIA RECOGNITION DAY
JULY 20TH
Thanks to Toad and Monty for bringing this to the Veterans Group!

An empty chair at the table
and an empty place in my heart;
each day I remember my boy,
each day the tears will start.

He felt sure it was his duty,
his love of country was strong;
standing tall in his uniform,
he's been gone - so very long.

They say that he was captured
and that his fate is still unknown;
you don't feel the deepest pain
until it is one of your own.

Prisoner of war, they called him,
just another statistic to them;
missing in action, alive or dead,
one of the lost young men.

Each day I pray for his safety,
each day I pray for his return;
I wonder if he's hurt or hungry
and if what happened I'll learn.

Now we have a special day,
but it is every day for me -
until I see my son come home;
Dear God, let him be free!

When you see the black flag
of the POW/MIA flying high,
just below the stars and stripes
please do not just pass it by.

Stop and think about the men
and women who are lost,
the families who are waiting;
they know what freedom cost.
