Emotions felt during a thunderstorm
Jagged bolts of lightning illuminating the night skies, a heady sense of power felt within at each deafening peal of thunder
Instilling a peace inside such as I’ve never felt before
I stand in the heavy downpour as though the evening were clear,
The rain saturating my hair and clothing, yet I do not care

The storm inside of me rages as fiercely as the one outdoors
My feelings are as turbulent as that of the changing weather
Still, all I feel is the raw power now emanating throughout me
The dangerous lightning casts darkened shadows about my feet, and suddenly I feel as though a surge of electricity has passed from it to me, yet I feel no fear, for the storm inside of me is much more powerful, much more dominant than the one outside

No intimidation is felt as the jagged bolts of lightning appear closer than before
I imagine myself to be part of the storm, and oddly enough, as the storm begins to diminish, the inner one also appears to be gone
I smile when I see the silvery moon finally peek from behind the clouds, for with the passing of the storm are also my anger and doubts

Now only tiny droplets of rainfall remain to let me know that the storm was real
Only small remnants of the storm inside of me are left behind also, yet an inner strength ignites from deeply within now
Perhaps the lull before the next storm?
